How to deal with stubborn people?

Over the course of the past few weeks, I have cleared my 2nd last semester, IPPT and did a 9 days part time job. As for the part time job, it will be my final time helping out in the exam event. The memories of the colleagues that I have worked with and the invigilators whom I met with great interest and honour to be able to work with them. To say, this is the best ever exam that I worked in. I appreciate their way of communication and dedication to work with each other to host another successful examination. Hope to see them in the same hall if I become a bookroom proctor.

People who are born in the year of Ox, are hardworking but they can also be stubborn. I used to be one stubborn guy till when I reached poly or should I say National Service. NS to me taught me to listen before action approach in dealing things. I sometimes use to deal things my way, but in NS there are so many doctrine and standard procedures(SOP) to follow to ensure one safety as well as to protect yourself from unnecessary trouble.

NS experience to me have been a learning process and taught me that listen first would enable a person to learn about the situations rather than making a rash decision which sometime can be wrong. Furthermore, ideas will flow more freely that you might never taught of it. Even though I been out of NS for 3 years, the lesson taught in there are those that I bring along with me to deal with situations which I see everyday.

But on the other side, how to deal with people that feels that his/her decision(s) is always right? This is one which I am clueless about. Should I use the method which work just well for me or the best way is to let the person be? This is one which I need answers.

Sometimes the risk is for them to fail. For example failure to listen and repeating the same level in sec sch. The person would have wasted that 1 year. But sometimes this is out of reach for us.
